Homepage banner and About page photos

Put your own photographs across the top of your shop.

Chairman shops can put a banner of their own photographs across the top of the homepage, and photographs behind the title of the About page. The homepage banner Open Customization in your menu, then Homepage, and choose Add your first slide. You can have up to five. Each slide is a photo, and everything else is optional: a small line above, a headline, one line of text, and a button. The photo comes first. A slide with no photo is not saved, because text with nothing behind it is not a slide. Choosing photos Use wide photographs, at least 2000 pixels across, and choose ones without writing on them. Your headline goes on top, and a photo that already has words in it will clash. Your shop shrinks each photo to 2000 pixels wide when you upload it. That is deliberate. A larger photo looks the same on a screen and takes longer to arrive on a phone, and the first slide is the first thing a shopper waits for. On a phone A wide photograph is cropped on a narrow screen. Under each slide, Keep in view on a phone lets you choose Left, Centre or Right, so the part that matters is the part that stays. If your photo has three people spread across it, a phone will show one of them, and this is how you choose which. Buttons A button goes to one of your own pages, chosen from a list: all your products, a category, the About page, the Contact page or the blog. You cannot type a web address. That is on purpose, so a button can never send a shopper somewhere by mistake, or somewhere it should not. The line under the banner Up to four short phrases in a row, such as "Authentic handcraft" or "Easy returns". They are your words, so only say what is true of your shop. Nothing is shown until you write one. How the banner behaves The slides change on their own every few seconds. They stop while a shopper has their cursor over the banner, and they do not move at all for anyone who has asked their phone or computer to reduce motion. Shoppers can tap the dots, or swipe on a phone. The banner appears on your homepage only. When a shopper is browsing a category or searching, they see products straight away. About page photos and figures Under Customization, then About & Contact, you can add up to two wide header photographs, which fade into each other behind the title of your About page. Your own photo, the portrait beside your story, can now be uploaded directly instead of pasted as a link. The same photo appears on your homepage and on the About page. You can also add up to three figures under your story, such as "500+" and "Happy customers". Fill in both boxes or neither. Only use numbers that are true. If you leave things empty Empty means it does not appear. A shop with no banner starts with its products, exactly as before. Nothing in your shop changes until you add something. Plans The banner, the About photographs and the figures are part of the Chairman plan. If you move to a lower plan, your photographs are kept but stop showing, and they come back if you return.
