Selling

Customer accounts

What it means when a shopper signs in to your shop.

Shoppers can now create an account on your shop. It is optional, and most people will never bother — which is fine, because nothing about checkout changed. What an account gives them: their order history, a list of items they saved, and their details filled in next time they buy. **Checkout still does not require an account.** Anyone can buy as a guest exactly as before. This matters, so it is worth saying twice: no shopper is ever forced to sign up to give you money. **One account works across every Weblanda shop.** A shopper who buys from you and from another Weblanda shop uses the same login for both. That is what makes the account worth creating for them. **You never see their activity in other shops.** Your dashboard shows the orders placed in your shop and nothing else — not what they bought elsewhere, not which other shops they use. That is enforced in the database, not by us being careful. **Your customer list is still yours.** Your Customers page works the way it always has, built from the orders placed with you. An account does not move a customer to Weblanda, and it does not take them away from you. If someone bought from you as a guest and later makes an account with the same email address, their old orders appear in their history. We only do that once they have confirmed the email address, so nobody can claim someone else's orders by typing their address. There is nothing to switch on and nothing to configure. It works on every plan.
